Game Facts
| Developer | Atmos Games, the studio of Thomas Brush |
| Publisher | 3D Realms |
| Release date | August 18, 2026 (Steam store listing) |
| Price | $14.99 USD with no discount active when checked on September 7, 2026. Sales come and go, so confirm on the store page. |
| Platforms | Windows only. The Steam listing carries a single Windows entry with no macOS or Linux build (checked September 9, 2026). No console edition exists today; the developers’ own FAQ leaves consoles open to consideration once the PC version has had its run. |
| Genre | Single-player first-person shooter with adventure and horror elements (Action / Adventure / Indie on Steam) |
| Structure | Five themed floors rather than an open world: hotel, waterpark, clown casino, carnival forest, and space station |
| How long it is | A first climb mainlining the quest runs well under the four-hour mark set by the Speedy Spree achievement; sweeping every secret takes far longer |
| Secrets | 28 secret areas across the five floors; older saves could show the Journal counter capped at 27, a bug the August 25, 2026 patch fixed, and the September 18, 2026 v1.2 patch fixed the Hotel secrets and restored the Secret Safari unlock. The site’s secret checklist tracks all of them by floor |
| Achievements | 18 achievements on the released build, from First Foe to the rare No-Death Daredevil (Steam global stats, checked September 10, 2026) |
| Endings | One ending scene is known from the released build; what the game confirms is multiple paths per playthrough. The endings guide covers the finale and the fan theories |
| Extras on Steam | One free entry labeled Twisted Tower Playtest sits beside the main game on Steam (checked September 7, 2026) |
The Studio Behind It
Twisted Tower comes from Thomas Brush and Atmos Games, the same studio behind Pinstripe (released on Steam April 24, 2017, published by Armor Games Studios) and Neversong. Brush’s own bio counts five years of development by a tiny team before Twisted Tower shipped, and on Pinstripe he made the art, music, and code himself.
That background explains the game’s shape: a focused single-player experience built around atmosphere and one strong idea, the tower climb, rather than systems that sprawl. The character guide covers the cast the tower throws at you.
Version History
Twisted Tower launched August 18, 2026 and has been patched repeatedly since. Every entry below comes from the developers’ own Steam News posts for app 1575990, checked September 23, 2026; the full summaries live on our updates page.
| Date | Release | What it changed (from the official post) |
|---|---|---|
| Aug 18, 2026 | Day One Updates | Launch-day fixes pushed the same day; the post noted build 1.0.3 live with 1.0.4 planned |
| Aug 19, 2026 | Update Notes | Fixed a rare case of getting locked behind arena gates after restarting from a checkpoint |
| Aug 20, 2026 | Update Notes | Minor UI bug fixes and added stability when restarting from checkpoints |
| Aug 21, 2026 | v1.0.4.3.1 (announced in “Letters from the Tower”) | Minor bug fixes, UI clean-up, and added checkpoint stability; the same post confirmed localization work underway for a handful of major languages |
| Aug 25, 2026 | v1.0.4.4.2 Patch | Fixed the Secret Journal total so every valid route tracks secrets, including older saves that could wrongly display 27; improved secret-route tracking in Adventure Plus, mouse aiming, and extended Black and White Mode to the HUD and menus |
| Sep 4, 2026 | Soundtrack | Official soundtrack released on streaming platforms (composed by Quinten Coblentz with Chandler Anderson, Matt Rexford, and Thomas Brush) |
| Sep 18, 2026 | v1.2 Patch | Fixed the Hotel secrets, older-save progress tracking, and the Secret Safari unlock; corrected the Floor 1 exit, puzzle-key matching, a Floor 2 death pit, the Spider Mother arena completion, the Casino door after a death, and the Cupid loveseat; cleaned up movement and input during pause, dialogue, cutscenes, and loading; fixed several weapon and combat issues including the Sling Snipe and the Gumball Globe ammo display; the FOV readout now shows degrees |
Why this matters: several early player reports (including the Journal counter showing 27) described behavior that the August 25 patch changed. If a guide claim contradicts what your build shows, check your version first. Older saves especially carried outdated route data into the new patch.
